Comedy star Heather McMahan brings her signature humor to BPAC
CLEVELAND, Miss. - Celebrated comedienne and podcaster Heather McMahan will return to Mississippi for her first live performance in the state in over two years on September 17 at the Bologna Performing Arts Center (BPAC). Beloved by the Today Show, Heather has guest hosted the show's fourth hour multiple times opposite Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager. She has also taken to the red carpet as an E! correspondent for the EMMYS, Grammys, Golden Globes, and Oscars.
"She sold out The Ford Center in Oxford two years ago, and Thalia Mara Hall in Jackson prior to that in both 2022 and 2023, and she's only gotten more popular since then so we needed to get her back to the state!" said Matty Bengloff, the new Executive Director of the BPAC.
"As we looked at putting together our fall line-up, we decided to go for it and see if we could get her here and we were very fortunate the timing worked out to bring Heather to the Delta. As a native Atlantan and a graduate of Ole Miss, she's got this great connection to the state and the southeast; her comedy is a little edgy, but we wanted to make sure we're bringing crowds of all ages and interests to the BPAC, and Heather is a slam dunk," said Bengloff. "She usually plays larger venues in big cities and you can tell--we're getting a lot of excitement, interest, and ticket sales from Memphis, Jackson and even Starkville."
Heather McMahan is an actress, stand-up comedian and podcaster (Absolutely Not! with Heather McMahan) whose first special, "Son I Never Had!" (Netflix) debuted in October 2023 at Number 4 and held a top 10 position for 7 days. Her second special "Breadwinner" debuted on Hulu in October 2024. In 2025, McMahan hosted her first cruise and is currently on her third stand up tour, The Bamboozled Tour. Described by The Hollywood Reporter as an "auditory David Sedaris for the millennial set," McMahan is known for her authenticity and broad humor.
Named to Variety's 2022 Comedy Impact Report, Heather was one of the featured female comedians to perform on "Jane Fonda & Lily Tomlin: Ladies Night Live" (Netflix) earning Fonda's admiration, and subsequently, hosting Fonda's star- studded 85th & 86th birthday celebratory fundraisers.
Mary Ryan Brown, a social media starlet from Hattiesburg, Mississippi, will open the evening with her own brand of Southern-flavored humor. Blending the charm of Leanne Morgan with the crowd work flair of Matt Rife, she delivers fast-paced comedy that hits home for anyone juggling work, family, and real life.
