Delta State to host second annual 'What's in the Bag?' health education event
CLEVELAND, Miss. - Delta State University's Health and Counseling Services will host the second annual "What's in the Bag?" event Thursday, Aug. 27, from 6 to 7 p.m. in the multipurpose room of the Young-Mauldin Dining Hall.
The interactive event invites students to select a bag, examine its contents and discuss how the items can support their health and well-being. Representatives from Plan A Mobile Clinic will also attend to provide information and resources related to sexual and general health.
Delta State first hosted "What's in the Bag?" in 2025. Following the success of the inaugural event, organizers plan to make it an annual program. Plan A is also expanding the event to other college campuses.
Plan A Mobile Clinic is a fully functioning mobile health clinic that partners with Delta State's Health and Counseling Services and other campus departments to provide free health care and educational opportunities for students, faculty and staff. Services include general primary care screenings, vaccines, sexually transmitted infection and HIV testing and prevention, mammogram referrals and referrals for other health care needs.
The clinic visits Delta State on the first Tuesday of each month during the fall and spring semesters. No appointment is required. Plan A's first campus visit of the Fall 2026 semester will be Tuesday, Sept. 1, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in front of the O.W. Reily Student Health Center.
All services provided by Plan A are available at no cost to Delta State students and employees.
