Delta State welcomes students back for start of fall semester
CLEVELAND, Miss. - Delta State University welcomed students back to campus with a full week of activities marking the beginning of the Fall 2026 semester.
The week began Saturday, Aug. 15, as new and returning students moved into campus residence halls. Faculty, staff and student volunteers helped families unload vehicles, locate residence halls and settle into their new campus homes.
Move-In Day also marked the beginning of OKRAtation, Delta State's student-centered orientation program. Held Aug. 15-20, OKRAtation introduced incoming students to campus resources while providing opportunities to meet classmates, faculty and staff.
Activities included the Statesmen Engagement Fair on the University Quadrangle, where students connected with academic departments, student organizations and community partners. Live & Lit on Leflore brought students together for a block party on Leflore Circle, while additional programs throughout the week encouraged students to become involved in campus life and build connections within the Delta State community.
Day and evening classes began Wednesday, Aug. 19. Students, employees and members of the Cleveland community celebrated the start of the semester that evening during Engage 4 Student Success at the Roberts-LaForge Library. The event featured live music, food trucks, games, inflatables and information tables hosted by campus and community organizations.
Before students arrived, Delta State held Faculty Development Day to welcome faculty members back to campus and prepare for the new academic year. The program provided updates on university priorities, academic initiatives and campus resources while giving faculty members time to reconnect with colleagues and prepare for the semester.
Together, the week's academic, social and community activities reflected Delta State's commitment to creating a welcoming campus environment and helping students begin the semester prepared, connected and ready to succeed.
