DSU Alumni Association announces schedule for 92nd Homecoming
CLEVELAND, Miss. - Delta State University is excited to announce the schedule of activities for its 92nd Homecoming celebration, taking place from Monday, November 4, through Sunday, November 10. This year's homecoming will feature a wide variety of events for students, alumni, and the entire Delta State family, offering something for everyone, from spirited competitions to festive gatherings.
The celebrations kick off on Monday, November 4, with a Paint and Sip/Karaoke Night, hosted by the Student Government Association (SGA) and Delta Proud Youth Initiative Fellows at the State Room in H.L. Nowell Union. The fun continues through the week with events such as Goat Yoga, a Lip Sync Battle, and the grand opening of the Pickle Ball Courts on Thursday evening with food trucks to celebrate the occasion.
The weekend lineup starts on Friday, November 8, with notable gatherings like the Golden Circle Meet and Greet at the Hugh Ellis Walker Alumni House and the Aviation Reunion Meet and Greet Reception. Friday's evening festivities include the Alumni Association Awards Gala and Golden Circle Induction Ceremony, culminating with the Homecoming Pep Rally at Parker Field and a Homecoming Party at Statesmen Park.
On Saturday, November 9, Delta State welcomes alumni and friends for a full day of tailgating, reunions, and football. The morning begins with the Salute to Veterans Breakfast and Program, hosted by the Dedicated Statesmen Association. Events run throughout the day and night, including the Homecoming Parade through downtown Cleveland, the Class of 1964 Reunion, and the much-anticipated football game, where the Statesmen will take on Valdosta State University at 2 p.m. at Parker Field. The evening will conclude with the Homecoming Step Show, hosted by the National Pan-Hellenic Council, and the "D'Statement Party" hosted by Kappa Alpha Psi Alumni at the Bolivar County Expo Center.
Sunday, November 10, will close out the weekend with a final breakfast gathering for aviation alumni and the Holiday Open House, hosted by the Cleveland-Bolivar County Chamber of Commerce, allowing everyone to enjoy the festive atmosphere of downtown Cleveland.
SGA President Hayden Kirkhart said, "I'm proud to announce that the 2024 Delta State University Homecoming theme is The Delta Derby! This week has been well planned out between our Director of Spirit and Traditions Fa'Darryl Cooper, myself, and the rest of my amazing cabinet. There are events for anyone and everyone throughout the week. Our student organizations have been working hard to bring you a show and we hope to see you there as well as at all other Homecoming Week festivities, and as always fear the Okra, respect the Statesman, and let's go Delta State!"
