DSU's Counselor Education program announces the 43rd annual F. E. Woodall Conference
CLEVELAND, Miss. -Delta State University's Counselor Education program is pleased to announce the 43rd Annual F. E. Woodall Conference for the Helping Professions, scheduled for Friday, April 4. This esteemed annual event serves as a cornerstone for uniting professionals across diverse disciplines to explore innovative practices, exchange insights, and foster collaboration.
Continuing a long-standing tradition, the F. E. Woodall Conference is dedicated to advancing the development of helping professionals. Named in honor of Dr. Fred E. Woodall, a distinguished leader in counselor education, the conference commemorates his enduring legacy through professional excellence and innovation.
This year, the conference is privileged to welcome two distinguished keynote speakers: Dr. Jonathan Barlow and Dr. Carl Sheperis.
Barlow serves as the Director and Assistant Teaching Professor at the Data Science Academic Institute of Mississippi State University. With a background in industry and university research, Barlow brings over 23 years of expertise in software development, data modeling, data science, and data analytics. He earned his Ph.D. from Saint Louis University, and his research interests encompass natural language processing and the philosophical dimensions of artificial intelligence. Barlow will deliver a keynote address titled "AI and the Helping Professions: The Productive and Ethical Integration of Artificial Intelligence."
Sheperis holds the position of Vice Provost and Dean of Graduate Studies at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania. He is a recognized expert in the application of AI to the health professions and has delivered keynote addresses at numerous conferences on this topic. Sheperis serves on the AI working group for the Global Forum on Innovation in Health Professional Education at the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM). He has authored several textbooks and published articles in various academic journals and reference volumes. Additionally, he has received numerous awards within the counseling profession.
In addition to these esteemed keynote speakers, the conference is delighted to introduce a third featured guest speaker, Dr. Donna Sheperis.
