DSU student completes prestigious internship at Royal Studios

CLEVELAND, Miss. - The Delta Music Institute (DMI) at Delta State University proudly recognizes graduating senior Cidney Dailey of Olive Branch for successfully completing a highly competitive internship at the legendary Royal Studios in Memphis, Tennessee, under the mentorship of acclaimed producer and engineer Boo Mitchell.

Dailey, who is earning her Bachelor of Science in Entertainment Industry Studies with a concentration in Audio Engineering Technology, gained hands-on experience in one of the most historically significant recording environments in the music industry. Royal Studios is renowned for its work with iconic artists and continues to be a hub for world-class music production.

During her internship, Dailey was actively involved in essential studio operations including microphone placement, session setup and breakdown, cable management, and maintaining professional studio standards. She also assisted in session preparation and contributed to the overall workflow of recording projects, demonstrating both technical proficiency and professionalism.

Her supervisor noted her exceptional performance, awarding her the highest evaluation marks and emphasizing her attentiveness, strong understanding of studio dynamics, and ability to read the room-an essential skill in high-level recording environments.

"My first internship with a legend like Boo Mitchell was very exciting and inspiring. I learned so much from him and he has a way of teaching that sticks with you. He's extremely knowledgeable and overall just a great mentor. He's just a great person to look up to and who I aspire to be like in this industry," said Dailey.

DMI Director Richard Tremmel emphasized the significance of the opportunity:

"Cidney's internship at Royal Studios represents exactly what we strive for at DMI-real-world, high-impact experiences in elite professional environments. Working under Boo Mitchell is an incredible opportunity, and Cidney maximized it. We are proud of her accomplishments and excited to see what comes next in her career."
