Golden Anniversary Scholarship Expands Support to Delta State Alumni
Cleveland, MS (08/24/2026) — CLEVELAND, Miss. - The Golden Anniversary Scholarship, an endowed scholarship established more than 40 years ago to support Delta State University students, has been repurposed to provide financial assistance to Delta State alumni pursuing advanced degrees at their alma mater.
The scholarship was created in 1981 by the Golden Circle Class of 1931 to assist outstanding students who might otherwise be unable to attend Delta State. Its original goal was to help senior students remain enrolled when financial difficulties threatened to force them to leave school.
Beginning in 2026, the scholarship will extend that legacy of support to Delta State alumni who are continuing their education by pursuing an advanced degree. The change provides alumni with an opportunity to further their education at the university while strengthening the connection between Delta State and its graduates.
"The Golden Anniversary Scholarship has supported Delta State students for more than 40 years, thanks in large part to the longtime generosity of our prestigious Golden Circle," said Corley Mullins '06, '10, '23, director of Alumni Affairs. "I'm excited that we can now extend that support to alumni who want to further their education at their alma mater. It's another meaningful way for the Alumni Association to invest in our alumni."
The scholarship is funded through contributions from Delta State classes that have celebrated their 50th anniversary, known as the Golden Circle. As additional classes contribute to the fund each year, the endowment will grow, providing financial assistance to an increasing number of students and alumni.
To be eligible, applicants must be Delta State alumni pursuing an advanced degree. Applications are available through Delta State's scholarship portal.
Those interested in supporting the Golden Anniversary Scholarship can give online through the Delta State University Foundation. Donors should specify "Golden Anniversary Scholarship" when making their gift.
