Mississippi Board of Trustees of Institutions of Higher Learning holds monthly meetings at Delta State University
Cleveland, MS (06/27/2025) — CLEVELAND, Miss. - Delta State University is honored to host the monthly meeting of the Mississippi Board of Trustees of Institutions of Higher Learning (IHL) on Wednesday and Thursday, June 18-19. IHL, the governing body for Mississippi's eight state-supported universities, brought together its twelve board members, Commissioner Al Rankins, IHL staff, and representatives from all state universities, including presidents and their senior staff.
On Wednesday, various IHL working groups met throughout the day in Kent Wyatt Hall and the Hugh Ellis Walker Alumni-Foundation House. The IHL Board convened their open meeting on Thursday at 9:00 a.m. in the H. L. Nowell Student Union, where they discussed policies, programs, priorities, and funding allocations for Mississippi's public universities.
DSU President Dr. Daniel J. Ennis welcomed the trustees and other guests to campus, noting that they were present at a time of great celebration as the university is preparing to commemorate its 100-year anniversary. He said, "100 years ago, on this very spot, Delta State's first faculty were getting ready to welcome Delta State's first students. We are proud of what they built, and what we have continued, and I am honored to share with you Delta State's tradition of resilience and relevance."
Faculty, staff, and students were invited to attend, and a large group joined to watch the board in action. Delta State University is proud to showcase its campus and hospitality to these distinguished guests while continuing to serve its students and community.
