Ten-time GRAMMY nominee Jamey Johnson opens BPAC fall season

CLEVELAND, Miss. - The Bologna Performing Arts Center (BPAC) at Delta State University will open its Fall 2026 Mainstage Series with award-winning country singer-songwriter Jamey Johnson on Thursday, September 10 at 7:30 p.m. Limited seats remain for this one-night-only performance.

Widely regarded as one of the most respected voices in modern country music, Johnson has spent nearly two decades bridging the gap between traditional country and contemporary sound. A 10-time GRAMMY nominee and Grand Ole Opry member, he has earned widespread acclaim for both his haunting baritone and masterful songwriting, with The Washington Post calling him "one of the greatest country singers of our time." His career includes multiple Song of the Year honors for hits like "In Color" and "Give It Away," along with a catalog of deeply personal, story-driven music recorded by legends such as George Strait and Willie Nelson.

Johnson's newest project, Midnight Gasoline, marks his first solo studio album in 14 years and stands among the most anticipated country releases of the last decade. Recorded at the famed Cash Cabin Studio, the album continues his legacy of honest, emotionally rich songwriting while showcasing new material shaped by both personal growth and artistic evolution. Known for his authenticity and dedication to the craft, Johnson remains a defining voice in country music, celebrated for songs that explore themes from self-destruction to self-redemption.

His award-winning song "In Color" received a 5X-Platinum Award for reaching 5 million in sales/ streams. "High Cost of Living" received a Platinum Award for 1 million in sales/streams, and the songs "That Lonesome Song" and "Between Jennings and Jones" received Gold Awards for sales/streams of 500,000. Rolling Stone says he " turns out to be [country's] most reliable traditionalist, a Music Row pro who can write a song for every emotional season," and describes the album as "a two-disc dissertation on the art of country music songwriting."

Opening the evening will be Sadie McLayne, a rising artist from Tuscaloosa, Alabama whose sound blends country, soul, and rock. With years of live performance experience on lower Broadway in Nashville and a growing regional following, she is quickly emerging as an exciting new voice in the genre.
