Delta State Police Department celebrates academy graduates, honors officers' achievements
CLEVELAND, Miss. - The Delta State University Police Department is recognizing two officers for reaching significant milestones in their law enforcement careers, celebrating both the continued success of a former officer and the accomplishments of one of the department's newest members.
Officer Corderrius T. Stevenson, a Greenville native, began serving with the Delta State University Police Department in 2024 before pursuing a career with the Mississippi Highway Patrol. Stevenson graduated from Mississippi Highway Patrol Cadet Class 70 on June 6, 2026, and now serves as a patrolman with Troop D in the Greenville area.
While Stevenson has moved on from Delta State, university officials expressed pride in his accomplishments and appreciation for his service to the campus community.
The department also celebrated the graduation of Officer Marcelo Rojas of Cleveland from the Mississippi Delta Community College Law Enforcement Training Academy, Class 26-B83, on June 26. As the youngest officer on the Delta State Police Department, Rojas has already demonstrated a strong commitment to public safety and professional excellence.
"The success of Officers Stevenson and Rojas reflects the caliber of people we are fortunate to have wear the Delta State badge," said Delta State University Police Chief Michael Peeler. "Officer Stevenson served our university with professionalism and integrity, and we are proud to see him continue his career with the Mississippi Highway Patrol. At the same time, Officer Rojas represents the future of our department. His dedication, character and willingness to learn give us great confidence in the service he will provide to our campus community for years to come."
The Delta State University Police Department remains committed to supporting the professional growth and development of its officers while maintaining the highest standards of service, integrity and public safety for the university community.
"We believe investing in our officers ultimately strengthens the safety of our campus and the communities they serve," Peeler said. "Whether they continue serving at Delta State or pursue opportunities elsewhere in law enforcement, we are proud to have played a role in their development and wish them continued success."
